OUR HISTORY

Cubbon & Associates Co., L.P.A. was founded in 1953 by Frank W. Cubbon, Jr. and the late Bernard D. Rice.  Initially named Cubbon & Rice, the firm was in the general practice of law until 1968, when the original partners limited the practice to plaintiff's personal injury law.  Since 1968, the firm has only accepted plaintiff's personal injury cases.  2006 marks our 53rd year in the practice!

OUR PRACTICE

At Cubbon & Associates, we handle cases involving injured persons - we limit our practice to plaintiff's personal; injury and wrongful death cases.  Our personal injury practice involves clients injured by automobile accidents, defective products, medical malpractice and for the wrongful death of a loved one, as well as other types of cases in which a person is injured by the negligence of another.  Cubbon & Associates has attorneys licensed to practice law in Ohio, Michigan, Florida and the Federal Courts.  Our attorneys have handled cases ranging from the Municipal and Common Pleas Courts to the Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania Appellate and Supreme Courts as well as the United States Supreme Court in Washington, D.C.  If a client's legal needs call for representation outside the limits of our practice, we will be pleased to make a referral to another attorney who can help.

OUR STAFF

Cubbon & Associates offers the services of four partners.  Our attorneys are all members of the Toledo and Ohio Bar Associations, the American Trial Lawyers Association, and many other professional and civic organizations.  Each lawyer attends Continuing Legal Education courses throughout the year and, in fact, earns many more than the minimum CLE hours required by the Ohio Supreme Court.  All Cubbon & Associate lawyers are members of the Ohio State Bar Association College, which requires attorneys to earn twice the required number of CLE hours annually.  Our attorneys lecture other attorneys at Continuing Legal Education  courses.  Brief biographical sketches of the attorneys can be found under Attorney Profiles.

Our support staff is well trained and experienced in assisting the attorneys and our clients.  Each can be directly contacted by telephone or e-mail.

 OUR FACILITIES

Our offices occupy two floors of the Inns of Court Building and include individual attorney offices, conference rooms, reception areas, paralegal, secretarial, and bookkeeping offices.  Each employee of the firm is linked together on our cutting edge computer system.  Our in-house library is extensive and each attorney has access to a complete computerized library to facilitate legal and medical research on a wide range of issues.

Our office is handicapped accessible and an elevator services all areas.

OUR LOCATION

We are located in the Inns of Court Building, Suite 500, situated at 405 N. Huron Street, which is at the northwest corner of Huron and Adams Streets in downtown Toledo.  The office is within easy walking distance to the Municipal, County and Federal Courthouses.  Commercial parking is available directly across the street.  On-street parking meters are also available and between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., the meters are free. OUR OFFICE HOURS

Hours of business are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Evening and weekend appointments can also be arranged to meet an individual's personal needs.  We also have voice mail to assist you outside the normal business hours.  Of course, you can always contact us by e-mail as well!

 FEES AND EXPENSES

We never charge a fee for an initial consultation.  Generally, personal injury cases are accepted on a contingency fee basis, with fees being based on a percentage of any monies recovered.  After discussing a particular case, a written fee agreement will be fully explained and signed by a client who chooses to retain Cubbon & Associates.
